FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have Any Questions

  • Installation & Technical

    1.Can I use elbows?

Yes. The key is that the elbows cannot be horizontal; they must maintain a certain angle to ensure that clothing slides continuously downwards under gravity.

2.When should I install the door mounting box?

Usually during the "First Fix" stage, when the interior walls are built and the main piping of the sliding track is installed.

    3.DIY or professional installation?

Modern sliding track systems often use modular designs (such as stainless steel piping), usually requiring no cutting. Therefore, builders, decorators, and even experienced DIY enthusiasts can install them.

4.Is my house suitable for installation?

As long as it's not a bungalow, it can generally be installed in homes ranging from 2 to 7 stories. Whether it's a new house or a renovated house, as long as there is vertical space or the piping can be concealed through a ceiling or closet, it's suitable.

5.What is the appropriate pipe diameter?

For home use, a diameter of 250mm or 300mm is generally recommended. 300mm is ideal for family homes and can even easily accommodate large items such as bedding.

  • Safety & Regulations

1.Is the laundry chute safe (especially for children and pets)?

Safe. It is generally recommended that the delivery door be installed at least 1 meter above the ground. The door handle should have a locking function or a two-step opening mechanism (such as a concealed balance door) to prevent accidental opening by children.

    2.How to prevent fire?

Material: Stainless steel or steel should be used. Plastic or wood is strictly prohibited (as it will produce toxic fumes in a fire).

Fire Damper: The delivery door must meet UK BS 476 standards (usually a 30-minute or 1-hour fire resistance rating).

Fire Damper: It is recommended to install an automatic fire damper at the bottom of the chute, which will automatically close in case of fire to prevent the "chimney effect".

Sealing: The section of the chute that passes through floors must be fire-sealed with fire-resistant gypsum board (pink board) or bricks for at least 30 minutes.

  • Design & Aesthetics

1.How should the end (exit) of the chute be handled?

Exposed: The end of the chute is directly exposed below the ceiling (approximately 1 meter), allowing clothes to fall directly into the basket below, showcasing the design.

Hidden: The exit is concealed within a floor-to-ceiling cabinet; the basket is only visible after opening the door, resulting in a cleaner look.

Multi-chute: Two chutes can be installed, one for light-colored clothes and one for dark-colored clothes, enabling automatic sorting.

    2.Can the piping be offset?

Ideally, the clothes should fall vertically in a straight line. However, if the position is not centered, a bend within 45 degrees can be used to offset the chutes without causing blockage.

  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting

1.Will the slide rails get clogged?

If properly designed (sufficient angles, no burrs or sharp edges on the inner wall), they usually won't get clogged. Clogging is often caused by forcing in oversized boxes or non-clothing objects.

    2.Is regular maintenance required?

High-quality household slide rails require virtually no maintenance. Simply check the door hinges and latches periodically for damage. The stainless steel tubing typically comes with a lifetime warranty.

  • Purchasing & Cost

    1.How to get a quote?

Usually, you'll need to provide building floor plans or floor-to-ceiling heights, as well as the intended locations of delivery ports and exits.

    2.Are the accessories in stock?

For repairs or future additions to the floor, professional suppliers usually offer stainless steel piping and doors available for individual purchase.
