Installation Guide: QDCE Laundry Chute System

On this page, we introduce how QDCE Laundry Chutes are installed, ensuring that you can receive the components and begin installation immediately. Rest assured, the installation is as simple as building with blocks.

Installation Preparation

1.Tailored Design and Numbered Components

QDCE customizes the optimal chute path based on your home structure and provides a complete set of ‘Foolproof’ Numbered Component Drawings. There is no need for complex on-site measurements; you simply piece the system together easily according to the numerical sequence, ensuring rapid assembly that saves you time and effort.

2.Obstruction Check (Safety First)

First, you must confirm that the vertical path through the floor slabs is clear of main beams, water pipes, or electrical wiring to ensure safety during and after installation.

Structural Preparation (First Fix)

3.1 Opening the Holes: Cut circular openings in the floor slabs at the designated locations. The hole diameter usually needs to be slightly larger than the chute diameter to allow for minor adjustments and subsequent firestopping material.

3.2 Fire Treatment: In the gap where the chute penetrates the floor slab, Fire Foam or fire-rated sealant must be used to seal the void.

3.3 Enclosure Requirements: According to UK/European standards, the main body of the chute usually needs to be enclosed within a fire-rated shaft (constructed with materials like fire-rated plasterboard).

Modular Assembly

4.1 Connection Method (Male/Female Connection): An insertion-style connection (Male/Female butt joint) is used.

Crucial Point: The upper chute section must insert into the lower chute section (following the direction of linen flow). This ensures the interior is absolutely smooth, preventing any ledges or steps that could snag clothing.

4.2 Fixing and Support: Dedicated Wall Brackets secure the chute to the wall or the shaft frame. For adjustable length or telescopic sections, a Locking Band is used to fix the final height, preventing sliding or twisting.

4.3 Installation Sequence: Installation can typically be done floor by floor. Position the components marked with the corresponding floor number, then connect them top to bottom.

Inlet and Door Installation (Door Installation)

Door Frame Embedment: Install the door frame during the construction/renovation phase.

Height Standard: The inlet opening is typically installed at about 1 meter (approx. 39 inches) from the finished floor level (conforming to ergonomics and considering child safety).

Fire Door: Certified Fire-rated doors must be installed. For high-rise buildings, the door is required to have an auto-closing function.

Bottom Exit (Discharge)

The bottom section usually requires a support frame or hanging brackets. The exit must be equipped with a Fire Damper or use an elbow (bend) to direct the chute outlet to the collection container in the laundry room.
